Another member of the Former United Workers Party Government is being hauled before the courts to answer allegations of misuse of Taiwanese Funds.

Former MP for Babonneau and Party Chairman Ezekiel Joseph is the second to have been served following consideration by the high court of a Town and Village Council report which was submitted following an investigation into the Gormer Government’s handling of Taiwanese Funds.

Government’s attorney Anthony Astaphan says the amended claim filed against Mr Allen Chastanet and that filed against Ezekiel Joseph is consistent with the policy of the Kenny Anthony administration and the Attorney General, to recover funds which were allegedly misused by the former Ministers, whether for personal or political purposes.

In denying claims that this action could be seen as a political witch hunt, Mr Astaphan says, it should come as no surprise, that Mr Joseph has been served.

In confirming that there is more to come, Mr Astaphan noted that the service of Mr Ezekiel Joseph, may well turn out to be a series of cases in relation to the allegations of misuse of public funds.

Mr Astaphan was hesitant to make any pronouncements on the outcome of the case before it is tried before the court.

Meanwhile efforts to reach Former Babonneau MP Ezekiel Joseph were unsuccessful.
