One man remains hospitalized after he was shot by police on Wednesday during an operation in New Village.

During the operation, 25 year old Lawrence Jermaine Joseph of Bois Patat, Castries sustained a gunshot wound to the leg area. The incident occurred about 12:00 noon.

As a result of the wound sustained, Joseph was transported to Victoria Hospital where he was treated and admitted in a stable condition.

Joseph was wanted by police for the offences of attempted murder and robbery.
A search conducted on Joseph’s person, during the operation revealed a .380 pistol containing 8 rounds of ammunition. Charges are expected to be laid against him shortly.

The matter is currently under investigations.

In more news, police have completed another successful marijuana eradication exercise here.

A total of 13, 800 marijuana plants were uprooted and destroyed on 9 plantations at Bois Jolie, Dennery.

This was done during an operation conducted by the officers attached to the Dennery Police Station.

No one was arrested in relation to this exercise.
