The newly installed Carnival Planning and Management Agency has announced a major change to one of the signature events on the calendar.

In announcing plans for the staging of the National carnival Queen pageant, the organization’s Public relations Officer Kentilia Louis, says the community leg of the contest has been scraped.

She explains that the decision was taken in order to commence a series of rigorous elimination rounds, to find 8 contestants.

A number of auditions have been scheduled to take place for applicants from various parts of the island.

Ms Louis says the changes as well as the early start of the selection process will have benefits for the contestants and the overall improvement of the product.

The auditions will consist of four segments including, talent, swim wear, evening wear, and interview.
