The Government of St Lucia is reporting progress rehabilitation works on some of the island’s infrastructure which was destroyed or severely damaged during the passage of Hurricane Tomas continues here.

The Deville Bridge was among three within the Soufriere constituency which was reconstructed and formally opened at a small ceremony on Thursday last week
 
The situation has been a source of much inconvenience to the residents and visitors to the Gros Piton Nature Trail.  The restoration of this bridge will impact significantly in ensuring that the residents and visitors to Deville, Delcer, Fond Ger Libre, Industry, La Pointe and nearby communities can commute with ease.

Acting Chief Engineer in the Ministry of Infrastructure, Port Services and Transport Len Leon says the contractor has delivered within budget and ahead of time.

Minister for Infrastructure Philip J Pierre explains that the Design, build, finance model was used in the construction of the bridge. He says disbursements will not be made to the contractor until the requisite checks and inspections are made.

MP for Soufriere Harold Dalson thanked residents for their patience during the period of construction.

The new single carriage bridge measures 12.2 meters long and was built by Construction and Industrial Equipment Ltd (CIE) through competitive bidding in the Build and Finance Model
