Members of the public have been advised that due to the official closure of the construction stimulus package on February 28th, the cost of bringing goods covered by the package will now be adjusted to include levies which were removed under the program.

The taxes being referred to are 15% vat in cases where vat is applicable, Import duty ranging from 5 to 20 % and service charge of 5%.

As a result, The Ministry of Commerce Business Development, Investment and Consumer Affairs is informing consumers that there is likely to be a change in the prices of the items that were covered under the package.

The department says it will continue to monitor the movement of prices to provide guidance to the public. It adds that it will continue to work closely with all stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition from the Construction stimulus package to an environment determined by market forces.
