The Government of Trinidad and Tobago has offered to employ qualified nurses in Saint Lucia who wish to work in that country. The offer was made by Prime Minister Kamla Persad- Bissessar during the recently held meeting of the Caricom Heads of Government in St Vincent and the Grenadines. Currently, Trinidad and Tobago employs some sixty nurses from Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

Prime Minister, Hon. Dr. Kenny D. Anthony, welcomed the offer from the Government of Trinidad and Tobago, noting that there are several nurses who were trained in Cuba and are in search of job opportunities.

According to the Prime Minister, “this is how Caricom should work. If there are shortages of skills and labour in one Caricom country, then the shortage should be resolved by inviting other CARICOM countries to supply those skills.”

Interested nurses are invited to contact Nurse Samina Cepal of the Ministry of Health from Monday March 24, 2014. Further details will be provided when contact is made with Mrs Cepal. Interested nurses should bring along with them copies of documents to confirm their training and certification.
