Bandits have made off with another important piece of equipment which was being used by the Water Resource Management Agency again.

Authorities say the rain gauge equipment which had been installed in an area at the George the 5th Park in Castries for over a century, was stolen on Friday morning.

According to Mr Fitzgerrald John the meter proved essential for data collection particularly during the Christmas Eve trough in 2013 and Hurricane Tomas in 2010.
He adds that the theft has now caused a major setback

Meanwhile, the northern part of the island continues to experience a dry spell and remains in drought mode.

Mr John has urged for residents to continue water conservation practices as predictions for the month of may suggest dryer conditions. He has also called on the public to use the supply of water sparingly
