It appears that Firefighters and Emergency Response Personnel continue to stage industrial action to demonstrate resentment at the failure authorities to deal promptly with a situation that continues to persist within the St. Lucia Fire Service.

Sources close to the Fire Service have revealed that officers attached to the St Vincent Fire Service have been called in to augment any manpower deficiencies that may exist at the island’s airports as local emergency response personnel continues to stage what appears to be a sick out.

It is not yet clear when the action will be dropped but information suggests that the fire officers will continue efforts to get the attention of St Lucian authorities.

Meanwhile, The President of the Fire Service Welfare Association Shane Felix says a meeting with government officials to discuss the economy and to explore recommendations to stabilize it, has been a learning experience.

The meeting held last Friday was a continuation of talks held the previous week between union representatives and Ministry of Finance officials.

Union representatives are expected to meet with the government again later this month.
