A team from the Corinth Secondary School emerged winners when four finalists in a debating competition on the topic “Is Punishment Abuse” faced off against each other last week

The event formed part of the third anniversary celebrations for the New Beginnings Transit Home.

Speaking at the conclusion of the event, Manager at the facility Beverley-Ann - Poyotte  said activity was organized with a view to educating youns students and the wider society on the work of the Transit Home.

She adds that the debate allowed students to do research on some of the ills that plague society

Ms Poyotte believes that the activity will support the work of the transit home and serve as a form of motivation for the children who live there.

The four finalists emerging out of the preliminaries were, St. Joseph Convent, Corinth Secondary, Castries Comprehensive Secondary, and Entrepot Secondary School.

Entrepot Secondary captured the award for the Most Creative Presentation .
Sanjay Fletcher of Corinth Secondary was deemed the most outstanding debater.
Corinth Secondary School also emerged the winners of the debating competition.
