Controversy is brewing over who will foot the bill following an announcement of the date for the Opening of Carnival 2014.

The cash largest cultural festival has been plagued with financial woes which have been compounded this year with the cuts in the budget and the absence of a subvention for the various calypso tents.

With the number of cuts that have already been made, concerns have been raised as to the cost of putting on the show which is already being advertised.

Suggestions are that the Carnival Bands Association and the Calypso Association are not on board with the decision taken by the Carnival Planning and Management Agency for the Opening Show.

There has not been reaction from the stakeholders at this time, but RCI news has learnt that the Calypso Association has planned to meet with its members on Wednesday at the Cultural Development Foundation office.
