The President of the island's largest public sector trade union has predicted that a certain course of action by the Government could prompt her members to strike back.

Ms. Mary Isaac made the prediction earlier Monday during an interview with reporters at the Sans Souci headquarters of the Civil Service Association where members met to engage in a prayer session to observe Public Service Day.

Prime Minister Dr. Kenny Anthony wants public sector workers to take a 3 year wage freeze to help reduce the Government's 76 million dollar fiscal deficit.

Ms. Isaac says that her members adamantly oppose the request.

Political Leader of the United Workers Party Opposition, Mr. Allen Chastanet, attended Monday's CSA event.

He says that while his party recognizes that the nation is facing a serious dilemma, it is for the government to offer some concrete solution.
