The spate of suicides has raised several questions targeted at local authorities by a St. Lucian newspaper editor.

Mr Rick Wayne has questioned why a study has not been commissioned into the reason for people taking their own lives.

He Kefran has accused local psychologists of being very cautious in their approach to the topic, and the failure to seriously tackle the issue. He notes that nobody is making reference to the number of suicides that were directly related to the global crisis when it first hit.

Two St Lucians have apparently taken their lives in the space of one week leaving friends and family at a loss as to the reason for such drastic action.

On June 30th Kefran Nancy St Clair was found hanging from the ceiling of her Morne Dr Don Home while a 61 year old man of Belaire is suspected to have taken his own life in the latest suicide reports here
