The Saint Lucia Calypso Association (2009) has responded to heavy criticism being levelled at the organization by sections of the public since the announcement of the disqualification of one of the artistes in the Power Soca Monarch competition.

A statement issued earlier today has place the responsibility for the fate of Claudius J Mouse Edmund squarely on the shoulders on the Take Over Tent. The association claims that the argument put forth that the Take Over Tent of the Saint Lucia Calypso Association (2009) allowed an underage performer to participate in a competition only to later disqualify him holds no weight.

According to Article 2 (b) of the “Rules of Competition” for the Power Soca Monarch under the Section, “Eligibility”, All competitors must be at least 18 years old. These “Rules of Competition documents were signed by all competing artistes by the deadline date of June 27, 2014. Mr. Edmund signed and did so in full knowledge that he was not eligible to compete as a consequence of the age factor.

The Association has the right to conduct verifications at anytime, adding that it is very obvious both entities were acting on information provided by Mr Edmund.
