There is no shortage of reaction to a decision taken by the St Lucia Calypso Association to disqualify Claudius “J Mouse” Edmund from further participation in the Power Soca Monarch Competition.

The news broke on Radio Caribbean International on Thursday morning during the Real Talk segment prompting swift calls for a hearing from the management of the sidelined artiste.

But the move has also caught the attention of renowned musician Ronald Boo Hinkson who has questioned the merit for disqualification particularly at this late in the competition.

He argues that no one should be excluded from participating from a national event.

Meanwhile, one of the organizers of the Piton Soca Starz Toni Nicholas has also weighed in on the debate noting that J Mouse had been debarred from competing in that event because of the age factor from the onset.

However he contends that to disqualify the artiste at this point in the competition, after he has successfully cleared all the preliminary rounds is nonsensical.

Since the controversy surrounding his future in the Power Soca Monarch competition J Mouse’s song Hurt It has gained more popularity here.
