It was a busy weekend for local police who opened investigations into several incidents between August 1st and 3rd.

It began with another drowning which lawmen report occurred about 6:30 p.m. on Friday, August 1st. Officers attached to the Criminal Investigations Department received a report of the alleged incident at Vigie Beach, Castries.

Information indicates that 21-year-old Carlye Emilien of Grande Riviere, Gros Islet was at Vigie beach playing a game of football before going for a swim when he became submerged in the water. A search ensued for Emilien but to no avail.

About 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 2, 2014, the body of Emilien was recovered and transported to Victoria Hospital. A post mortem examination is scheduled for a later date.

...And on Saturday, August 2, 2014, a high speed chase led police to a stash of illegal drugs as well as a firearm and ammunition.

officers attached to the Drug and Special Services Units conducted an operation, which led to the discovery of 31 packages of what is suspected to be Cocaine and a .38 revolver, containing 4 live rounds of ammunition.

Official reports indicate that police officers were involved in a chase with a white Subaru Wagon registration number PJ 7950, which was travelling along the Bexon Highway in a southerly direction at the time. The chase ended at Marc, Bexon where the two suspects abandoned their vehicle and fled the scene into the nearby bushes.

A search of the area and vehicle commenced. During the search, the officers discovered several packages of what appeared to be cocaine and a firearm. one of the suspects was also apprehended. The drugs, firearm and ammunition were photographed and packaged in the presence of the suspect and seized.

Currently, three individuals are in police custody assisting with investigation.
