Despite intense rainfall over the past few days, met officials say it’s not enough to get St Lucia out of the current drought conditions currently being experienced.

That's according to the acting Director of Met Services Venantius Descartes who informed that St Lucia remains in meteorological drought mode.

The island has been experiencing heavy rains associated with a tropical storm over the past few days, but officials fear while the drought situation is slowly improving, the intensity of the rain may lead to other problems

Meanwhile, islanders are urged to brace for more rain which is associated with another tropical storm which is affecting the region.

A Tropical Storm warning on Friday forced the closure of supermarkets and anb address by the Prime Minister regarding the rain event.

Forecasters indicate that rainy conditions are expected to continue into the months of August and September.
