The Parliamentary representative for Vieux Fort North has called on St Lucians to remember the families of the victims who perished in the St Jude Hospital fire four years ago.

A statement released by Mr Moses Jn Baptiste notes that all three individuals who died in the fire were from the Vieux-Fort North constituency. He says the families are, to date, still trying to cope with their tragic loss.

Mr Jn Baptiste also commended the doctors, nurses and workers for their sacrifice and heroism on that fateful day. He has also lauded the efforts of many ordinary St. Lucians who joined the recovery effort on that day and helped to stem what he says, could have been a potentially more catastrophic event.

The Minister is hopeful that the memory of the three people who perished in the St. Jude fire will always be kept alive.

Meanwhile, the statement adds that the people of the south and St. Lucians generally can look forward to a new hospital in the near future. He explained that many changes had to be made to the original design of the medical institution as the project progressed and the original cost continues to change by way of increases.

The MP has indicated that he has every confidence that Minister for Health is working diligently to get the hospital opened.
