Proposals are being put forward for more local investment in the French market following one of the biggest theme parties held in St Lucia over the weekend.

The Mercury Beach party which was held at the Pigeon Island attracting hundreds of French visitors from Martinique is being hailed a success.

On that basis Cultural attaché to the Consul General in Martinique Shazi Chalon has called for the forging of strong synergies with the French neighbours in an effort to further grow the tourism sector.

He has advised tourism officials to use the Martinique market as a gateway to Europe.

According to Mr Chalon preliminary estimates suggest that the event drew between 3 and five million dollars in revenue
