The Seismic Research Unit of the University of The West Indies has confirmed the occurrence of an earthquake on Monday 15th September, 2014

The quake is reported to have occurred 5:09pm local time north-east of Saint Lucia.

The event was located at 14.37°N and 60.24°W. The magnitude was 5.0 and depth 10km.

This event was reported as felt in St. Vincent and Saint Lucia.

A statement from the Centre notes that the preliminary results have not been reviewed by an analyst and may vary when additional data are processed.

Meanwhile, reports reaching the National Emergency Management Organization in St Lucia indicate that the earthquake was felt in Castries, Entrepot and parts of Choiseul.  No reports of damage have been received.
