The President of the ST Lucia Fire Service Welfare Association has found himself in the hot seat again following news that one of his members has been accused of theft.

Authorities have identified the firefighter as Glen Joseph of Ciceron. He was arrested last Friday after a formal complaint from a woman who had been picked up by an ambulance and rushed to hospital after she had collapsed.

The woman had complained that her ring was missing.

Speaking on the incident, Mr Shane Felix pointed to that reaction of local authorities in dealing with the recent situation involving a junior officer compared to that of the former Fire Chief Leslie Fontenelle and the allegations levelled against him.

Mr Felix also explained that his reaction to the media on Tuesday when questioned about allegations against Glen Joseph were sarcastic.

Asked whether he would push for justice in the case of the junior officer who has been accused of theft as has been done with the former fire chief, Mr Felix had this to say.

Mr Felix has called for equity in the pursuit of justice for anyone who has been found guilty of breaking the law
