As efforts continue here to protect St Lucia’s borders from the possible entry of Ebola into the country, Customs and Excise officers are being trained to handle any such eventuality.

That's according to Assistant Superintendent of Police in charge of the Immigration department Crisita Descartes Pelius who informed the port personnel have been engaged in sensitization exercises conducted by the Ministry of Health as it relates to the Ebola Virus.

She adds that other airport personnel including airline employees have all been engaged on what the roles that they play in dealing with passengers from the worst affected areas.

St Lucia is among several Caribbean Countries to establish travel restrictions on passengers from Nigeria, Guinea and Sierra Leone where the Ebola Virus is most acute.
