The Saint Lucia Bureau of Standards, will award its first Quality Mark for Food Products to a Bakery and two Agro-Processing Businesses.  

Debbies Plus Bakery, under the Addies Plus Bakery label of La Clery, Castries, Ms St. Rose Creole Delight in Bocage, Castries for the production of jams, guava cheese, fudge, sugar cake and juices and  Vels Multi Services Ltd.,  Richfond, Dennery for Latanye Wine and Mauby Bark

According to Dr Xanthe Dubisson the mark is issued to products which meet the requirements of the relevant national standard. These establishments submitted to a programme of rigorous inspection and examination to meet the requirements to become certified.

Dr Dubisson has encouraged other local companies get the standards certificate. She stressed that the mark is critical to sustainable development efforts

A signing ceremony will take place on Wednesday 22nd October at the SLBS conference room in Bisee.
