A physical altercation involving a female teacher and three male students at the Clendon Mason Memorial Secondary School in Dennery continues to remain a serious cause for concern for a St Lucian gender and rights advocate.

Ms Felicia Browne who has been lobbying against bullying in schools and other issues that affect students at local learning institutions notes that any form of violence particularly in the school setting is alarming.

She has highlighted the need for faculty members to be able to use scientifically proven approaches in reaching out to students in a meaningful and impactful way.

Ms Browne stressed that traditional teaching methods may not be relevant in dealing with a modern society which is now more enlightened about human and other rights.

Ministry of Education officials have launched an investigation into the matter and the students involved in the altercation have since been suspended.
