An attack on a La Clery bus driver last night has highlighted the need for the establishment of a cashless system by minibus operators.

Mr Hyacinth Sydonie says upon arriving home from work on Thurdsay evening he was attacked by masked gunmen who demanded that he turn over his day’s earnings.

But he says he was shot in the leg before he was able to react.

Meanwhile the Public Relations Officer of the La Clery Mini bus Association Victor Eugene, has described the incident as unfortunate and has urged drivers to be extra cautious.

He believes that they are being targeted by bandits because of the poor security systems in place to secure mini bus drivers.

Police are currently investigating the matter.
