A local telecommunications provider has been accused of ripping off consumers who continue to stock up on gifts for loved ones during the holiday season.

The accusation comes from an irate customer who claims that the price which was being advertised on a phone in a promotional campaign by Digicel turned out to be much higher in-store, even though the promotion is ongoing.

Mr Marlon Philip says he was told by a store attendant that he had to purchase a monthly data plan in order to pay the advertised price for the phone.

He believes that the promotion is a form of false advertising and that customers need to have the necessary information in order to make an informed purchase.
