A four year old child who was rescued from a burning truck after it exploded in a vehicular accident on the Bexon Highway has died.

The boy was among four individuals who were aboard the vehicle at the time of the incident but was the only one to have been rescued by spectators after the explosion that left the three other occupants dead.

Police say that on Wednesday January 14th about 3:02pm, the traffic unit of the Royal St Lucia Police Force  responded to the incident, where they were informed that motor truck registration TK 817, was travelling in a southerly direction when it ran off the road and crashed into a utility pole.

The truck was being driven by Thomas Arthur of Deglo Castries. Also on board the vehicle were Margratia Antoine as well as 6 year old David Agard and 4 year old Benjamin Agard all of Sarrot castries.

As a result of the impact, the truck burst into flames and what is believed to be the charred bodies of the two adults were recovered from the wreck.

Four year old Benjamin Agard succumbed to his injuries early this morning.
