Health officials here have received a passing grade following a review of a simulation drill conducted here on Monday to test the island’s readiness to respond to an Ebola case.

The exercise which began at the Gros Islet Poly clinic and ended at the Victoria Hospital revealed that medical personnel activated the proper response and containment mechanisms in dealing with the virus.

Chief Medical Officer Dr Merlene Fredericks noted that while the island continued to remain at low risk for the ebola virus, the medical fraternity continues to monitor the situation which has hit parts of west Africa hardest.

In highlighting the competencies which were being tested, Dr Fredericks says plans are in place to conduct further such exercises in the future.
