The management of the St. Jude Hospital has assured the general public that there have been no recent changes in its fee structure.

A statement issued by the southern health facility notes that it regrets that statements to this effect have been widely publicized and discussed within the public forum.

It has dismissed as rumour, the implementation of fee increases or denial of services to any patient or category of patient entitled to these services, adding that they are absolutely false.

St. Jude Hospital has been a participant in the intense discussion and planning that is well underway at the national level. These discussions and consultations have been focused on the role and responsibilities of Government in the provision of healthcare to the people of St. Lucia and represent the culmination of a very extensive and laborious process.

The statement however notes that the hospital has been engaged in the re-examination of its fee structures as part of this national effort. The realistic costing of medical services at both Public Hospitals and Community Health Services is an integral part of the discussion process.

It adds that any premature signaling or disclosures of these preliminary discussions is regretted.
