The Ministry of Health, Wellness, Human Services and Gender Relations in collaboration with Ministry of Education and Ministry of Agriculture is set to launch an Inter Secondary School “Nutrition Ad Competition” on Friday January 30th 2015.  

The Theme for the Competition is, “Less Sugar for You and Me Will Make a Healthier Society”.

This competition is aimed at engaging Secondary School Students to develop ads with healthy messages geared at young people in St Lucia, on the negative effects of excess sugar on the body.  Another aim is to create behaviour change among young people to eat healthier and reduce the intake of foods high in sugar which contributes to obesity and other health conditions.

Lisa Hunte-Michell is the Chief Nutritionist in the Ministry of Health,

Through this ad competition organizers aim to focus on improving nutrition in schools while educating young people on the harmful effects of Junk food on the body.

Participants stand a chance to win several prizes including a tablet, camera and phone as well as other gift vouchers. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners will receive, $250, $150 and $100 respectively, the first placed school will receive $300 towards music /theatre arts department.
