The United Workers Party has threatened to stage another public protest if the government fails to make an immediate downward adjustment in the price of fuel here.

The disclosure was made by Party leader Allen Chastanet who has described the demonstration in Castries on Thursday last week as a loud public statement to the government.

Based on the falling prices of oil on the world market last year, and the failure of government to announce a more significant discount to local consumers,  the opposition believes that there is a surplus which the public has not been allowed to benefit from.

While Mr Chastanet stopped short of announcing when the party will take to the streets again, he noted that it would depend on whether or not the government will choose to do the right thing.
