Regional pollster Peter Wickham has cautioned that the election victory by some parliamentarians in the Twin Island Federation of St Kitts and Nevis could be challenged in court.

This comes one day after the convening of general elections there.

Preliminary results following the poll suggest that the Dr Denzil Douglas administration has lost the election and that aspirations for a fifth consecutive term in power has been quashed.

The opposition coalition, Team Unity, in St. Kitts/Nevis has claimed victory in Monday’s elections even though the country’s Supervisor of Elections of the Electoral Commission, refused to announce the final results of the election at 5 a.m. this morning.

Sources suggest that from a voter tally witnessed by their agents, that the opposition coalition, Team Unity, had won enough seats to take the reins of power from the 20-year ruling St. Kitts Labor Party led by Prime Minister Dr. Denzil Douglas.
