Laborie Co-operative Credit Union Launches Mentorship Programme

The Laborie Co-operative Credit Union Ltd. will be disbursing a total of $34,000 to its 24 Scholarship holders on Monday August 12th 2013 at the Laborie Boys Primary School from 9:00a.m.  

The Credit Union will also be celebrating the launch of its mentorship program and the start of its annual summer camp.

CID News Report

Four male individuals have been detained in police custody after the execution of a search warrant at a house in City Gate, Castries about 7pm on Saturday 3 August 2013 by personnel attached to the Drug Unit.

Approximately 283 lbs of compressed dry green plant materials suspected to be Cannabis was recovered.

Local Reggae Artiste Donates to Children in Need

Internationally renowned St. Lucian reggae artiste and humanitarian Taj Weekes donated over 200 pairs of athletic shoes to children in need in St. Lucia. 

The donation which was coordinated through Mr. Weekes’ children’s charity, They Often Cry Outreach (TOCO) was facilitated by the Consulate General of Saint Lucia in New York.

LIAT to acquire new aircrafts

The Antigua-based regional airline, LIAT, Friday said the Barbados-based Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) is providing US$65 million in loans to the four shareholder governments of the company.

It said the loan, approved on Thursday, to Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and Dominica will assist with the purchase of aircrafts in the context of a fleet modernisation project.
