The Ministry of Youth Development and Sports Secondary Schools Under 15 Cricket Tournament continued on Monday at the Dennery Playing Field with a play off match between Castries Comprehensive and Micoud Secondary to decide the fourth semifinal spot. At the end, it was Micoud Secondary winning a very exciting match. The scores were tied at the completion of each inning so a super over was bowled to determine  the result, with Micoud Secondary emerging winners by 7 runs.

Saint Lucia Olympic Committee Approves 3 Scholarships
The Saint Lucia Olympic Committee (SLOC), in its quest  to support and  develop  emerging athletes,  has approved three scholarships to young athletes on the road to the Olympic Games in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.
 
During its Annual General Meeting, held at the Palm Haven Hotel last week, President of the Saint Lucia Olympic Committee Fortuna Belrose disclosed that  the three athletes are Jordon Augier from Swimming, Makeba Alcide from Track and Field and Stephanie Lovell from Sailing.

Table Tennis Creole Day Classic
St.Joseph’s Convent dominated both the under 13 and under 15 age group in the Creole Table Tennis Classic which was held over the weekend at the Castries Table Tennis Centre. In the under 13 category Mia George of St. Josephs Convent  competed with confidence in the finals against Valdine Belrose from the Entrepot Secondary School to win 3 sets to 2 in a tightly contested match. This was the first defeat for Valdine in this age group category in two years. Joanna Theodore from St. Joseph’s Convent placed third.

Boxing Association Names Provisional Boxing Squad

2 UK based boxers have been included in a provisional St. Lucia National Boxing team to continue preparations for ST.Lucia’s possible defence of the OECS Boxing championship  title here in December.

The UK based boxers are 64kg Lightwelterweight Jacob Gabriel who is yet to represent ST.Lucia and 81Kg Light heavyweight Ryan Charles who was named best boxer when St. Lucia won the 2013 OECS Boxing championships here at the Vigie Sports Complex.

Inter-Commercial Domino Results
Results for matches played on Thursday October 23, 2014 in the 2014 Inter-Commercial Domino Competition being played at the Police Auditorium in Castries.

Group A
M & C Drug Store on 76 points defeated Ministry of Infrastructure on 66 points and Sunbilt on  63 points. Timothy Felicien top scored for M & C Drug Store with 13 points and Gill Casius top scored for Ministry of Infrastructure with a perfect 18 points and Ian Augustin top scored for Sunbit Ltd with 16 points.

Day 2 of the South American Laser Radial Championships

We woke up to a cloudy overcast day, which meant that the sea breeze wind would not be as strong due to the slower heating up of the land to create the thermal wind.  After a 2 hour postponement  on land, we were sent out on to the water.

On the race course area we had winds of 5-6 knots, coming from the north (the sea breeze direction here is from the south), and current flowing with the wind with a small swell.

St. Lucians Top 2 at  Commissares Course (Cycling Referee) in Puerto Rico
Andre Charles and Leslie Serieux were the top two scores respectively in the Commissares course(cycling referee) conducted prior to the Caribbean Cycling Championships held in Puerto Rico from Wednesday October 8th to Friday October 10th 2014.

Both candidates scored in the 90s after taking the exam. The course was conducted by International Commissaire Shawn Farrel of the USA and there were 8 participants, two participants from St. Lucia and Puerto Rico, one from Barbados, US Virgin Islands, Jamaica, and St. Vincent.

Police Fight for a #6 Playoffs Berth In SCBL 2014
The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force defeated BBC in a close contest in Micoud last night after capturing the lead in the second half of play.

For two quarters BBC held a tight grip on the lead, extending from time to time off their defense and fastbreak.  BBC captain, Kurt Raphael had a huge first half scoring 17 points, 9 in the second quarter.  The RSLPF stayed close with contributions from Erwin Tertullien (11 points) and Callius Dantes (6 points) and were able to seize the lead briefly, ahead by 2 points late in the half.  But with less than 10 seconds remaining, quick ball movement up the court got the ball back into the big BBC skipper's hands for a trey...Swish! Rugby: Four in a Row
The St Lucia senior male rugby team continued its unbeaten run in 15’s rugby by defeating US Robert of Martinique 24 points to 5 on Saturday October 11, 2014 on the Corinth Playing Field. This followed on the heels of a wins against St Vincent at home on June 2, BVI in Tortola on May 10, 2014 and Diamante of Martinique on June 28, 2014.
    
US Robert is one of the top clubs in Martinique coached by Martinique national coach Litadier Antoine. It is the first time that the team is visiting St Lucia but the home team was not gracious to the visiting French club.

Gros Islet District Rep Competition
The Gros Islet District Representative Football Competition continued on Tuesday 14th October at the Gros Islet Playing Field featuring it final game in the Preliminary round with Northern B vs Caye Manje.  At the end of the 1st half of the game the score was 0-0.

Caye Manje took the lead in the 2nd half of the game with a goal from Dylan Edward in the 70th minute.  With no more goals scored Caye Manje won over Northern B 1-0 at the end of the game.

Black Bay Basketball vs Lab Techs 86-68 Final
The much anticipated second face-off between league leaders Laborie Lab Techs and Black Bay Basketball was awesome Saturday. 13 3-point field goals were scored on the night, 9 by Black Bay Basketball, 6 by Shawn "Squirms" Auguste, and 3 by him in the 4th quarter alone to help seal the victory.

It was an all around commanding performance by Black Bay Basketball Saturday with excellent ball movement initiated by point guard Derocher Antoine -- self titled Magic Johnson reincarnate.

Gros Islet District Rep Competition
The Gros Islet District Representative Football Competition continued on Monday 13th October at the Gros Islet Playing Field featuring 2 games.  The 1st game  was Northern United vs Coco Peree. At the end of the 1st half of the game Northern United took the lead 4-0 with goals from Kenvin Mcphee in the 5th and 7th minutes and Eden Charles in the 25th and 39th minutes.

Folk Research National Woulélaba Competition 2014 Results

Three exciting matches were played at different venues:

Game One: at Piaye playing field Belfond versus Derasmeaux,  Belfond scored 263 runs all out in 209 balls in reply Desrasmeaux only scored 132 all out.

Cricket Scores from the MYD & Sports U 15 Tournament

The Ministry of Youth Development and Sports 2014 Secondary Schools Under 15 Cricket Tournament got on the way today at venues in the North and South of the island. This year the tournament takes the form of 25 overs a side with two games scheduled per venue on match days.

In the first match at the Piaye Playing Field, Choiseul Secondary registered a comfortable 5 wicket victory over Soufriere Comprehensive. Taking first knock, Soufriere Comprehensive was dismissed in the 20th of their 25 allocated overs for 81 with Zach Anthony 13 and Kervel Prospere 11 not out the only batsmen to reach double figures. Bowling for Choiseul Secondary, Sachin Canchon 4 for 17 in 4.3 overs, Ned Modeste 3 for 26 in 5 overs and Stephan Theophane 2 for 11 in 4 overs.

Woulélaba Competition Launches
The launch of the annual Woulélaba competition organized by the Folk Research Centre (FRC) took place at the La Guerre playing field at La Guerre on Sunday October 5.   Thirteen (13) teams comprising: Monchy, Mon Repos, Dennery, Desrameau, Piaye, Belfond, Anse La Raye. Barre de chaussee, Sarrot, Tèt Paul, Ciceron, La Point Micoud and Babonneau will be taking part in the competition this year 2014.

At the Woulélabarama at La Guerre all teams save MonRepos, Anse La Raye, La point and Tèt Paul we in attendance.  Mixed team games were played during the Woulélabarama which was won by the Monchy/Desrameau combination beating the Dennery/Belfond team in the final.

2014 Capri Sun Short Course National Championships

All of St Lucia’s locally based competitive swimmers jump into the pool this weekend 10th to 12th October 2014 at the Capri Sun National Short Course Championship as they attempt to make the national Swim Team for the OECS Swimming Championships in November.

SLASA has again expressed confidence in and drawn on the experience of the Sea Jays club to organize this important event to use as the selection time for the swimmers.

Lab Techs Unbeatable On a 4-0 Winning Streak
Carson Alexander scored a game high 27 points, 12 in the 3rd quarter to lead his Lab Techs to victory against a formidable Police Force team last night.

After a slow 1st quarter, behind 12-15 to the Lab Techs, the Police Force took the lead early in the 2nd and held on until half time.  Kurlinus Augustin (9 points) and Callious Dantes (7 points) led the scoring for the Police in the 1st half.
