Women's High Jump Qualifying

The leading medal contenders all breezed through a routine qualification session as the 13 women who cleared 1.92m all advanced to the final on Thursday morning. The automatic qualifying height was 1.94m but the referees made the wise decision not to prolong the contest just to eliminate one woman.

Anna Chicherova, the 2011 world and London 2012 Olympic Games champion, was one of eight women in qualification to boast a perfect record and the statuesque Russian will take her place in a record-equalling (to match the feat of USA’s Amy Acuff) seventh IAAF World Championship final.

Windwards Goodwill Final Scores

The final day's play in the Windward Islands Goodwill Cricket Tournament was badly affected by inclement weather.

At Sion Hill, St. Lucia and Grenada held on to a tame draw. St. Lucia, resuming from their overnight score of 192 for 7, declared their on 196 for 9, leading Grenada by 98 runs with Dornan Edward remaining not out on 24.

Team St. Lucia makes it to Main Draw in Tobago
The Tobago leg of the ITF Junior Tennis Tournament served off on Saturday and 3 St Lucians are now in the main draw of the boys and girls 14 and under category:-

Meggan William breezed thru 4-0; 4:0 in her first match over Trinidad's Abigail Jones. In round 2 Solange Skeene of Trinidad received a similar blow when Meggan dismissed her with a 4:1; 4:0 sample of the little Venus.

More St. Lucian Footballers to Play Overseas
Last Saturday three players from the Vieux Fort South senior football team made their way to Trinidad and Tobago to take up stints there.

The players are Gregson “gorgom” President who is a national under 23 midfielder. He signed a two year deal with Caledonia AIA. The other players national under 23 midfielder Antonius Mayers and national under 21 striker Antonio Joseph are also at Caledonia but on trial.

The players stint in Trinidad was set up by Former national striker Titus “titi” Elva who worked closely with Caledonia AIA Coach Jamal Shabazz in getting the players to sign up with the club. Elva was a former Caledonia AIA player in the Trinidadian Pro league and he also represented W Connection in the Trinidadian pro league as well. The players from Vieux Fort South will join another Vieux Fort South player already on the books of Caledonia AIA Jamil Joseph.

Sandals Cricket Academy Closes
As the saying goes: All good things must come to an end and so did the 2015 Sandals Foundation/ Ministry of Youth Development and Sports Cricket Camp at the Beausejour Cricket Ground. The week long camp which attracted the top under - 15 cricketers islandwide was extremely successful as the objectives were met.

St. Lucia Cricket Team Leaves for Windwards Goodwill Tournament
The St. Lucia National Senior Male Cricket Team leaves the island for St. Vincent and the Grenadines in good stead, confident about return home with the 2015 Windward Islands two day championship. The team travels on Wednesday, and plays its opening match the following morning from 9:00 am verses Dominica.

Sebastian Coe was elected as the sixth IAAF President at the 50th IAAF Congress in Beijing, China, on Wednesday (19).

The voting was as follows (207 Member Federations cast their votes): Sebastian Coe (GBR) 115 votes, Sergey Bubka (UKR) 92 votes.

St Lucia's Top Tennis Stars Shone at the 32nd Coca Cola/Lime Tennis Championships
When it comes to tennis and winning, one thing stands out - The names making it to the finish line. Lewis - William - Francis - Bousquet - Hunte - St. John - Rohemen - D' Auvergne.

At the just concluded ITF Coca Cola/ Lime Junior Tennis tournament, St.Lucia was represented in large numbers in both age categories 18's and 14's. When the curtains came down on Saturday, only three names stood out, Nathan Francis, boys 14s singles champion, edging past Nicholas St. John in straight sets:- 6-4 6-1.

SLNCA National Senior Male Cricket Team Preparation
The St Lucia National Cricket Association continued preparation of the Senior Male Cricket Team with a trial/ practice two day game at the Mindoo Phillip Park over the weekend, Saturday August 8 and Sunday August 9. The team is getting prepared to represent St.Lucia in the upcoming Windward Islands Goodwill Cricket Tournament scheduled to take place in St. Vincent and the Grenadines from August 19.

Coca Cola/LIME ITF Junior Tennis in Full Swing this Week

St. Lucia is playing host to more than 200 junior tennis players from around the world who are here to compete in the 2015 Coca Cola/LIME ITF Junior Tennis Tournament.

Saint Lucia Swimming concludes at World Champs
The splash dash and most exciting event of the Championships, the Mens 50M Freestyle, was the first event of the morning session contested by some of the fastest swimmers in the world including 2012 Olympic Gold medalist Florent Manadou of France for a spot in the semi finals this evening.

Pantime Representing Saint Lucia at International Panorama
Pantime Steel Orchestra have been the most dominant force in Saint Lucia in recent times, as their three consecutive victories at the annual Panorama competition would attest. Now, the pan troupe is taking its talents to Trinidad and Tobago.

Founding in 2000 by Cecile "Tortee” Philgence, the band's goal goal has always been the development of young people through music, specifically the steel pan art form. Pantime has also won the Junior Panorama competition twice in a row.
