The Saint Lucia Olympic Committee committed over $60 thousand to five national federations on Tuesday. In a meeting chaired by SLOC president Fortuna Belrose at Olympic House in Barnard Hill, the SLOC's General Secretary, Alfred Emmanuel, gave details of the expenditure.

Three federations are getting support for their Pan Am Games preparations. Saint Lucia has 11 individual athletes and one team qualified in four sports. The hemispheric multi-sport meet is scheduled to be hosted in Toronto, Canada, come July.

The men's beach volleyball team of Joseph Clercent and Julian Bissette is set to attend a training camp in Brazil, toward which the SLOC has committed $13,107.13 for airfare. The body has also agreed to pay for meals, accommodation, ground transportation and equipment, but the final bill may be smaller than had been previously anticipated. The initial discussion was for a six week camp, and the programme has now been reduced to four weeks.

Swimming will compete at the XIX Central American and Caribbean Championships (CCCAN) next month in Barbados. The SLOC will spend $6350 on that assignment. The governing body will also pay relevant training and travel expenses for Pan Am qualified Jordan Augier, who is based in Florida.

The largest amount, $27,149.39, is being spent to send boxers Lyndell ‘the Russian’ Marcellin and Arthur Langelier to the Pan Am qualifying tournament in Mexico next month in Tijuana Mexico.

In addition to the Pan Am Games expenditure, the SLOC also announced support for two other organisations.

Bodybuilding is hosting its national championships this coming weekend, and is preparing for various regional events. They got $9,005.

A presentation was to have been made to the Shooting Association, but they did not make an appearance at the handing-over ceremony.

In total, Emmanuel said that $63,621.99 was handed over in Tuesday's ceremony. He asserted that the SLOC had presented a little over a quarter of a million dollars worth of support to member federations in the first quarter of 2015.
