Defending champions St. Lucia started their defence last evening of the Creole Games Boxing title in Guadeloupe rather stutteringly after winning only one of the four bouts St. Lucian boxers participated in.

ST.Lucia’s only victory last night came in the 81kg Lightheavyweight  Novice Division when Policeman Yatil Robert had a points victory over Gregory Eloise of Martinique .Roberts advances to the finals Saturday evening against an opponent from  Cayenne French /Guyana.

In the other bouts featuring ST.Lucian boxers last night 17 year old Ian Auberto on his overseas debut was disqualified in the 60 kg lightweight junior final against Jeremie Solignac of Guadeloupe, when he lost his cool in the ring. Auberto had himself to blame after clearly being out front on all the judges scorecards.

ST.Lucia’s Travis Maynard won yet another silver medal to add to his many he has won before in regional competition when he lost to Eric Serao of Cayenne in the senior 56kg Bantamweight Final, when the Referee Stopped the contest in the third round after Maynard had the better of the exchanges dominating his opponent in the first two rounds.

The other ST.Lucian in action last night was Dalton “the hurricane” George making a return to the ring after an almost two year absence. He lost a close 64 kg lightwelterweight contest against Hendricks Farlot of Cayenne /French Guyana on points in a fight which was that close and could have gone either way.

Five more ST.Lucian boxers will be in the ring tonight as the championship enters its second day of action. Joshua Duberry meets Regis Kancel of Guadeloupe in the 64kg Lightwelterweight Cadet finals. Marvin Anthony takes on Julian Devos of Cayenne in the semi finals of the 75 kg Middleweight Novice division.

Lyndell Marcellin comes up against Yancy Megange of Martinique in the semi finals of the 69 kg welterweight division, while Arthur Langelier meets Jose Maria Tolentino from Cayenne in the Middleweight Senior division semi finals.

The last ST.Lucian in action tonight will be Miguel Auguste in the  Lightheavyweight 81 kg seniors final against Leonardo Mosquea of Cayenne/French Guyana.
