National Team Selected for WIFF Tournament
The Saint Lucia National Senior Team leaves the island on Tuesday 29th April, 2014 for Dominica to participate in the annual Windward Islands Football Federation Tournament which will be held from April 28th – May 5th 2014 at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium Dominica.

The Team will be led by Vice President of SLFA Kendel Emmanuel, Technical Director Cyril Podd, Head Coach Francis Lastic, Assistant coach Anthony Jn Baptiste and Manager Anthony Evans.

St. Lucia Participates in Trophee De L Caraibe Competition
It was tough going for St. Lucia as they participated in their first overseas engagement for the year.

The Trophee de La Caraibe started with 23 teams 104 riders including teams from Martinique, Guadeloupe, French Guyana and France. Among he Nationalities were France, Venezuela and Poland riding for various teams.

The first stage 113.5 km race saw Kurt Maraj as the first to abandon because of illness. Kirk Maraj who was in a bunch together with Fidel Mangal suffered some cramps eased out in no mans land and took a wrong turn and did not make it to the finish, thereby being unable to continue the other stages per regulations. Fidel Esnard on his first overseas race for St. Lucia with 104 riders was unable to cope with a fast decent lost contact was giving chase and also took a wrong turn and did not make it to the finish, thereby being unable to continue the other stages.

Final Leg of Guinness Street Challenge to be held in Soufriere

First ever Guinness Street Challenge Small goals football champions in ST.Lucia Fantastic of Soufriere and Veterans of Castries have booked the two final spots in the grand  finals of the 2014 Guinness Street Challenge small goals football competition.

They did so Sunday  evening in the final preliminary leg qualifier which took place at the Soufriere Multipurpose Courts.

T20 Tournament
St. Vincent and the Grenadines defeated St. Lucia in the finals. SVG batted first and made 154 runs. SLU made 144 in 20 overs.

SVG was the winner of the RSS (Regional Security System) trophy as well as the Clarkson Miller Trophy (The two commissioners who started the tournament)

Easter Monday Youth Rugby Festival
The St Lucia Rugby Football Union (SLRFU) in collaboration with the Southern Chapter of Rotaract and the Laobrie Youth and Sports Revitalisation Committee will be hosting a grand youth rugby festival on Monday April 21, 2014 on the Laborie Playing Field from 10:00am – 4:00pm.

More than one hundred under 13 kids from around the island will be participating in an atmosphere of keen but friendly rivalry for the first time in Laborie which has been a hot bed for rugby talent and activity in recent times. Teams are drawn from schools and communities such as Laborie Boys School, Laborie Girls School, Micoud, Marchand Combined School (boys and girls), La Guerre, Boguis Combined, Babonneau Primary School, Vide Boutielle Primary School and Balata Primary.

Levern Spencer Strikes Gold
With the 2014 outdoor season just about one month old, St. Lucia's premiere highjumper and  Caricom record holder, Levern Donaline Spencer made her best ever start to any season, with a gold medal winning performance at her first outdoor competition for this year.
 
Competing last Saturday at the Spec Towns National Team Invitational in Athens, Georgia, the two time Olympian jumped her way to the No.1 position on the 2014 world listing with a clearance of 1.96m, equalling her 2nd best jump ever, which is just 2cm shy of her national and Caricom record of 1.98m.

Ciceron Seagulls United SCC Football League Update
“The Ciceron Seagulls United Sports & Cultural Club reopened its 2014 Football League on Sunday April 6, at the Ciceron Playing Field after a one month break”.

The first match kicked off at 2:30pm, with Crusaders coming up against Force Five. By the 9th minute Crusaders would take the lead, drawing first blood with Captain Kelvin Augusta scoring the first goal. Immediately following, Kelvin Augusta struck a second blow to the Force Five unit in the 13th minute. In the 14th minute Force Five responded quickly after being down by 2 goals to nil, with Akim Francis successfully out playing the Crusaders defense. However, in the 20th minute Crusaders would lead by 3 goals to 1, as Force Five scored an own goal. In the closing minutes Valence Duncan scored a spectacular goal against Crusaders, but was not enough, as Crusaders won the game by 3 goals to 2.

St. Lucia Yacht Club’s TRY SAIL! offers Newbies an Experience of Sailing
This Saturday April 12th, as part of the club’s plan to educate and familiarise the community with the sport of Sailing, a new initiative will take place at the Saint Lucia Yacht Club called TRY SAIL! The coaches and leaders of the Youth Sailing Program will host the TRY SAIL! Event between 1.30pm and 4.30pm, and everyone is invited to come along to the clubhouse on Reduit Beach to try their hand at sailing for free!

Registration of new and existing sailors for term 3, which runs from April 29th to mid July, will take place Saturday April 12th and 19th.

High Powered Officials Clinic
Regional officials benefited from a successful high powered two day Officials Clinic organized by the St Lucia Amateur Swimming Association and sponsored by the International Swimming Federation (FINA) over the weekend 5th and 6th April 2014 at The Bay Gardens Hotel

Conducted by the two most senior Technical officials in FINA, the clinic was well attended by 61 St. Lucians and 11 persons from the region.

La Clery Football
Two goals from Jonathan Allen and one from Alvin Williams secured a 3-0 victory for L.A All-Stars in the Final of  the  2014 LIFE'S District Rep/St.Lucia Natioanal Lottery Authority  Championship on Sunday. They clinched the title when they defeated a very determined Beta Finkers  side .

The Final was a gripping affair with both teams displaying enterprising football before a large crowd. However, it was L.A All-Stars who were able to make good on most of their goal-scoring opportunities.

KFC National Basketball League Results

On Saturday in Division 1 action in Gros Islet, Micoud Hustlerz came from behind to record their first win in this year’s tournament 67 -58 over Combined Forces.  The KFC player of the game was Ulric Joseph with 16pts and 6rebs and Jay Desreseo contributed with 12pts and 3 assists.  In their loss, Calious Dantes had 17pts and 9rebs and Shervon Matthew had 15pts and 11rebs for Combined Forces. 

Game two of the night in Gros Islet featured the much anticipated Courts Jets Co-Ed against Lions.  Although a good first showing for the Co-Ed team highly dominated by ladies in their first competitive game, Lions won easily 70 – 34.  Neil Verdant with 11pts and 8rebs was the KFC player of the game.  Dudley Joseph also had 8pts, 12rebs and 6 steals for Lions.  Joel Solomon led the scoring for Courts Jets Co-Ed with 8pts and a massive 16rebs and Laurah John chipped in with 7pts and 3rebs.

SLFA Men's Under 17 Championship
The Saint Lucia Football Association’s Under 17 Men’s Championship progresses with a number of exciting matches taking place so far. 17 Teams are currently participating with the Marchand Football League and Laborie unable to field teams for this championship. The National Under17 Team has been included in this fixture to allow it some playing time as a unit but cannot hope to win the championship.

Cricket Match Reports
The visiting Colchester Royal Grammar School out of the United Kingdom went down to John Eugene Academy by 58 runs in a 40-overs-per-side match at the Gros Islet Playing Field yesterday.

Batting first, Eugene Academy were in deep waters on 86 for 5 before No.3 batsman, Kester  Charlemagne and Quaine Henry steadied the innings with a sixth-wicket partnership of 55. Charlemagne made 77 which included fourteen fours, while Henry contributed 33 to help the host to 174 for 9 from their allotment of 40 overs. Benroy Papin, who made 13, was the only other batsman to reach into double figures.

Under 19 Women's National Squad
Saint Lucia Football Association has put together an Under 19 Women's Squad to begin training from Saturday 12 April 2014. training will continue on Saturdays but will intensify with time. The increase in training days will mean that more than once training centre will be established which will facilitate training on weekdays from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm on select days.

Seniors Cricket Festival Final Match Report
The tenth International Seniors Cricket Festival which bowled off here on March 24th, ended yesterday at the Beausejour Cricket Ground where the best of the English and Canada players came up against the best of the Trinidad and Saint Lucia players.

Batting first, the combined English & Canada Team totalled 170 for 6 from their 35 overs following an opening stand of 65 between Timothy Moult (42) and Farook Kermani (29), and then a fifth-wicket stand of 53 between Martin Downes (24) and Richard Moore (40 not out).
