Queen’s Park Cricket Club Defeats Defending Champions Clarke Road in Premier Division Opening Round
Port of Spain, Trinidad - Queen’s Park Cricket Club just had too much firepower for defending champions Clarke Road yesterday in the opening round of Premier Division One matches in the 50-over Sunday League competition.

Off-spinner Sunil Narine, who withdrew from the West Indies World Cup squad last week to do more remedial work on his bowling action, proved a headache for the Clarke Road batsmen at the Queen’s Park Oval as the champs lost by five wickets.

CPL Official Explains Absence of the Antigua Hawksbills from this Year's Competition
Seven teams are just too much for the Caribbean Premier League at this time. According to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the CPL, that is the reason the Antigua Hawksbills will not be a part of the third edition of the Digicel-run Twenty20 tournament this year.

Yesterday, COO Pete Russell told the Express that with St Kitts and Nevis acquiring a new franchise, the League could not still accommodate the Hawksbills.

Kevin Pietersen to Play During 2015 Caribbean Premier League Season for the Saint Lucia Zouks
Big-hitting England batsman Kevin Pietersen will be back in the Caribbean this summer to play in the third staging of the Limacol Caribbean Premier League (CPL).

West Indies Fined for Slow Overrate
Dubai, United Arab Emirates - West Indies has been fined for a minimum over-rate breach of the ICC Code of Conduct during the fifth and final One-Day International (ODI) against South Africa in Centurion on Wednesday.

Chris Broad of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees imposed the fines after the side, led by Jason Holder, was ruled to be two overs short of its target when time allowances were taken into consideration.

WICB Seeks ICC Intervention on Situation with India
Dave Cameron, the president of the West Indies Cricket Board, has told the BCCI that the WICB cannot be dragged into the Indian courts for damages related to West Indies' pullout from the India tour midway into the series in October last year. Cameron urged the BCCI to sort the issue through a bilateral discussion or a third-party mediation over the next two months. The WICB also said that it had sought the intervention of the ICC in the matter.

Thomas House booked their place in the SALCC Arthuramas Cricket Final with a 3 run win over Lewis in what was a more evenly contested Semi-Final yesterday. Decked in their official House T-Shirts the Golden Jaguars (Thomas House) got to 50 runs off their 5 overs with top scores of 12 from both Nyhymn Terrance (not out) and Shanii Mesmin. With a seemingly meager 10.1 runs per over needed and 7 accomplished batsmen in the line up Lewis House recovered from a shaky start losing two early wickets for just 6 runs by the second over. It was then that National Representative Milan David, struck a quick fire 21 and leave his team at 42 for 3 with nine runs to get off 9 balls.

St Lucia Rugby Team Wins Local Tournament
The St Lucia senior male rugby team played unbeaten to emerged champions of the 7-a-side tournament help at the Gros Islet Playing Field last night. Four teams participated in the opening event of the packed 2015 calendar of events of the St Lucia Rugby Football Union. They were St Lucia, Zandolie, Sir Arthur Lewis and the sailors from the visiting warship; HMS Severn.

Team St Lucia commenced its rout by overwhelming SALCC and followed this victory with comprehensive wins over HMS Severn, 68 – 0 and Zandolie, 24 – 7. HMS Severn emerged runners up with two wins and one defeat while SALCC, comprising of students from the ation’s premier learning institution, placed third ahead of Zandolie.

SVG Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves Calls on WICB president Dave Cameron to Step Down
The Prime Minister of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Dr Ralph Gonsalves, has come down hard on West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) president Dave Cameron and has said that he needs to step down from his position. He added that Cameron’s handling of the contract dispute, which led to West Indies’ players withdrawing from their tour of India mid-way was ‘poor’ and ‘embarrassing’. Intriguingly, Cameron is set to stand for re-election during the annual general meeting that will take place in Jamaica on March 7.

Caricom Masters Veterans Sports Club of Castries and Soufriere will meet in the finals of the 2014/2015 Caribbean Alliance Insurances Veterans Football Tournament organized by Veterans in Sports Inc. West Indies Earn their First Victory under the Captaincy of Jason Holder
Andre Russell struck a sensational unbeaten half-century as West Indies ended their nine-year wait for a One-Day International victory over South Africa by clinching a nervy one wicket win, with nine balls to spare in the fourth game of the five-match series here Sunday.
