St. Lucia’s Leverne Spencer Wins GOLD at Commonwealth Games

St. Lucia’s Leverne Spencer welcomed home in Pomp and Ceremony, following her history making win at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.


The celebrated high jump Gold Medallist was met by her family, sporting officials, and  government dignitaries and as she arrived at the Hewanorra International Airport on Thursday.

In attendance were Acting Prime Minister Stephenson King, Minister for Sports Lennard Montoute as well as Minister for Local Government and Culture Fortuna Belrose, who serves as the  the President of the St Lucia Olympic Committee.


After concluding a brief welcome ceremony at the southern airport, a motorcade accompanied Spencer to Castries where  she was greeted by a moderate crowd awaiting in celebration  at the Derek Walcott Square.


Addressing the individuals present Levern thanked St. Lucians for their continued support.
