St. Jude Hospital Received New Mobile Blook Bank Unit

St Jude Hospital is the recipient of a mobile blood bank unit donated by the National Health Service (NHS) of the United Kingdom to the government and people of St Lucia.

The donation of the DAF 45 Series, custom built mobile blood bank was made possible through the persistent efforts of the St. Lucia National Committee in the UK.

St. Lucia's Chief Medical Officer Announces the Resumption of the Pediatric Programme for Special Needs Children

The island’s Chief Medical Officer has announced the resumption of the pediatric programme for special needs children.

News of its suspension came from the Secretary of Raise Your Voice St Lucia Catherine Sealys, when the government discontinued the contract of specialist paediatrician Dr Jacqueline Bird.

SLTB Supports Local Artists on Musica Tour of the US

The Saint Lucia Tourist Board (SLTB) is giving its support to several local Soca and Lucian Kuduro artists on a five-city tour of the United States. The Board has sponsored the musical tour to the tune of $10,000 EC. The seven-week tour organized by Empire Media brings the splendour and unique power of Saint Lucian music to the US market and the Saint Lucian diaspora. The cheque handover took place at a press briefing at the SLTBS’s offices on Wednesday, August 30th.

The tour starts off with the Labour Day ‘Parkway Jam’ on September 4, 2017 and ends with Miami Carnival on October 8, 2017. The organizers have also planned a charity event at the Saint Lucia House in Brooklyn to demonstrate their solidarity with the Saint Lucian diaspora.

NEMO Urges Residents to Monitor Progress of Hurrican Irma

The National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) and the Saint Lucia Meteorological Services continue to monitor the progress of Hurricane Irma which has intensified into a major category 3 hurricane in the Eastern Atlantic Ocean.

According to the St. Lucia Meteorological Services, as at 5 a.m. on Friday September 1, 2017, the centre of Hurricane Irma was located near latitude 18.2 North, longitude 36.5 West or about 1665 miles or 2680 kilometers east of the Leeward Islands. Irma is moving toward the west northwest near 12 mph (19 km/h).
