Dierre Morne Bridge Opens!
Scores of residents of La Ressource and Dierre Morne, along with Government officials including Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Economic Affairs, Planning and Social Security, Dr. Kenny Anthony and several members of Cabinet, cheered on Monday evening as Angel McFarlane, a five-year-old student at Plain View Combined, cut the ribbon to officially open the latest of 16 bridges rehabilitated by the Government of Saint Lucia over the past three years.
 
The Dierre Morne Bridge enables access to the La Tourney Cemetery. The bridge also restores the link between the communities of La Resource and Dierre Morne, which were severed as a result of the Christmas Eve Trough. One of the key features of the bridge is the inclusion of two pedestrian sidewalks. The bridge is a few hundred yards away from Plain View Combined, and several dozen students attended the opening ceremony. Dr. Anthony said:

 ARC Course Record Broken for 2nd Consecutive Year!
Unprecedented in the 29 year history of the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers, the ARC Course Record has been broken for a second consecutive year following ideal trade wind sailing for the largest trans ocean rally. Leopard by Finland crossed the finish line in Rodney Bay Saint Lucia at 9:51 pm on December 2nd smashing the ARC Course Record by 2 days 6 hours 45 minutes and 19 seconds.
 
Sailing across the Atlantic from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria to Rodney Bay, Saint Lucia in a total of 8 days 14 hours, 39 minutes and 51 seconds, the 10 Finnish adventurers alongside Leopard's regular 'pro' crew headed by skipper Chris Sherlock, celebrated successfully completing the Finnish-led transatlantic record attempt that has been over a year in the planning.

Principals and Teachers Encouraged to Ensure the Safety of Confiscated Items from Students
Principals and teachers have been strongly advised to ensure the security of items that have been confiscated from students, as they can be held liable if the go missing.

The advice comes from the Chief Education Officer Mr Marcus Edward in light of claims being made by a former student of the Micoud Secondary school.

Seniors Cricket Festival Final Match Report
The tenth International Seniors Cricket Festival which bowled off here on March 24th, ended yesterday at the Beausejour Cricket Ground where the best of the English and Canada players came up against the best of the Trinidad and Saint Lucia players.

Batting first, the combined English & Canada Team totalled 170 for 6 from their 35 overs following an opening stand of 65 between Timothy Moult (42) and Farook Kermani (29), and then a fifth-wicket stand of 53 between Martin Downes (24) and Richard Moore (40 not out).
