Eastern Caribbean Region receives US $7.2 Million to Promote and Protect Biodiversity

The Global Environment Facility (GEF) through the World Bank has contributed US $7.2 million to the Caribbean Biodiversity Fund (CBF) to promote the conservation, protection, management and expansion of national protected area systems and other areas of biodiversity significance across the Eastern Caribbean region.

The marine and coastal resources of the Caribbean - its coral reefs, beaches, fisheries and mangroves - serve as an essential economic engine.

UWI Turns to Overdraft Credit Facility to Meet Expenses in 2012/2013

The University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona Campus says that for the first time in 20 years it had to turn to an overdraft credit facility with its bankers to meet its expenses in 2012/2013.

The University said that the measure was taken in tandem with continuing efforts to reduce or contain costs where possible, including closely managing payroll costs, the largest component of the campus' budget.

CSA President Comments on 3 Year Wage Freeze

The President of the island's largest public sector trade union has predicted that a certain course of action by the Government could prompt her members to strike back.

The Sab Sporting Facility, Vigie – October 26, 2013: Sixteen goals were scored in 3 games, including a hat trick by the tournament leading scorer Avian Girard, as the round robin phase of the 2013 ECFH~LUCELEC Youth Football League winds down.

In an abbreviated game schedule to facilitate Jounen Kweyol activities in the Under 13 division on Saturday October 26, 2013 VSADC made light work of Lancers behind contributions from Simeon Francis, Akil Gabriel, Naveed Joseph, Vionce Weekes, Eziah Modeste and Keegan Caul. Yensen August was the only contributor for Lancers.
