St Jude Hospital Receives Grant from the Government of Japan
St Jude Hospital, the main healthcare provider serving the southern half of St Lucia, has received a grant totaling USD$81,162 from the Government of Japan. The grant was presented by the Japanese Ambassador to St Jude Hospital Chairman – Dr Ulric Mondesir during an official signing ceremony on February 23, 2017 at the Office of the Prime Minister in Castries.

She.lc Forum 2017 Launches
Following up on last year’s successful event, “She.lc” 2017 is once again poised to excite, honour and empower women under the theme Archetypes and stereotypes, on the occasion of International Women´s Day.

The Embassies of Spain, Mexico and the Alliance Française once again have proposed a cultural and social celebration in Saint Lucia with a triple objective.  It includes a cultural activity, emphasizing the role of women in the Arts. The forum will also commemorate the IWD, by stressing the importance of the empowerment of women as a basic pillar of social development. The idea is to promote the creativity of local artists giving them a space and a subject to create their own artistic expressions.

Police News
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a forty nine (49) year old resident of Morne Panache, Dennery, namely, Clayton Justin.

Officers attached to the Richfond Police Station received a report reference to a chopping at Morne Panache, Grande Riviere, Dennery, about 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 3, 2017. Clayton Justin allegedly received a single slash wound to the neck during a physical altercation. He was later pronounced dead on the scene by a medical practitioner.

Audio-Visual and Film Workshops Launch Speciality Caribbean EXPO 2017
Audio-Visual and Film workshops launch off the Speciality Caribbean EXPO capacity building programe at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground today.

The initiative comes out of collaboration between the Saint Lucia Trade Export Promotion Agency (TEPA), the Caribbean Youth Film Festival and the Audio Visual and Film Association. The purpose of these workshops is to assist writer/director and producer teams with some of the key skills in developing, financing and creating viable and commercial film products

The St. Omer Family Responds to Calls for the Redesign of the National Flag
Suggestions made by a veteran politician to redesign the national flag have been met with strong resistance by a representative of the St Omer Family.

The national symbol was designed by the late Sir Dunstan St Omer and according to his son Alwyn St Omer, was a gift to the people of St Lucia.
