Staff of the Royalton Saint Lucia Resort and Spa Stage "Peaceful Protest" Outside Compound

Staff of the Royalton Saint Lucia Resort and Spa staged what they described as a ‘peaceful protest’ Wednesday afternoon outside the hotel compound.

It is estimated that more than twenty employees of the resort are said to have taken part in the action which began at around 5:pm and lasted until about 7pm.

Sandals Releases Statement on Withholding Tax Issue

Sandals Resorts International is telling its side on the withholding tax issue that surfaced here in what appeared to be a leaked cabinet conclusion this week.

In a statement issued on Wednesday the resort noted that is grateful to the Government of Saint Lucia for bringing closure to a long-standing tax dispute in respect of withholding taxes assessed by the Inland Revenue Department on Insurance costs allocated to its three resort companies between 2001 and 2009.

St. Lucia's Police Commissioner Returns to Work Following Vacation Leave

Police Commissioner Severin Moncherry who is back on the job following just over eight months vacation leave has announced that his main priority is to address the high rate of homicide occurring here.

The island has recorded some 34 homicides for 2017 and the Commissioner says the plan is to address the number of illegal guns in the hands of St Lucians.

A century for West Indies Under - 16 batsman Kimani Melius, fresh from touring the UK, propels Rising Stars to an easy 8 wicket victory over a Soufriere Representative Under 17 team on Friday, September 4 at the Monchy Playing Field.

The Soufriere lads batting first, was dismissed for 203 in 26.5 overs (35), with Xystus Emmanuel top scoring with 51 and Dillon Monrose not out. For Rising Stars, captain Rahym Joseph bagged 4 wickets and 2 each went to Lee Solomon, Garvin Serieux and Rumario Simmons.
