Officials from the Inland Revenue Department Cautions Public to Pay Close Attention to Changes in VAT Rate
Consumers and business owners are cautioned that failure to pay close attention to the changes in the vat rate could result in penalties.

The advice comes ahead of the January 31st deadline when businesses must make the adjustment in their pricing to reflect a 12.5 percent vat rate .

Police News
A woman who was hospitalised yesterday after drinking the herbicide, Gramoxone, has died, her daughter confirms.
Cecilia Daniel Marshall, 43, of Deglos passed away at Victoria Hospital around 11:00 last night.

The 21-year-old said her mother drank the substance around 7 a.m. at their home yesterday. A bottle with the substance was found her mother’s feet.

Police have confirmed that a man who escaped lawful custody this week has been recaptured.

On Wednesday, January 18th, 2017 about 7:45 a.m. police recaptured, 29 year old, Dexter Jn. Baptiste who was caught on Sandy Beach in Bruceville, Vieux Fort.

Soca Artiste and Rise St Lucia activist Jonathan ‘Ninja Dan’ St. Rose who was accused of murder has been released

The development comes just months after St Rose and two other men who were also jailed in connection with murder of a Pavee man, pled guilty to a lesser charge of manslaughter. The trio was sentenced to 20 years in prison last year.

The Secretary of the St Lucia Lifesaving Association has called for St Lucians to prioritize swimming following news of the latest drowning.

The bodies of two men who had ventured out to see on a fishing expedition were fished out of the water this week. The two men met their demise despite suggestions that they were excellent swimmers.
